I just realized, checking the stats, that the i8 will be smack bang in the face of the 911 Carrera 4. It will have more toque of course because electric drive, so it will accelerate faster, and is supposed to consume less, but as per size, weight, 2+2, AWD, horsepower and sportiness go, it is uncannily close to the benchmark.
.... and all the while BMW play it all clever, only talking about how evolved and innovative it'll be, how many future technologies will come to life in it, how this is the next step in Efficient Dynamics, blah blah blah. And then unveil the M1 for the next generation. Wow.

That looks like a TON of complexity.
From a brand with a more recent reputation that suggests not owning one of their new cars out of warranty, due to maintenance and repair costs.
It looks like a lot of complexity, weight, and lithium batteries, on very narrow tires.
Thanks, but I think I would stick with a healthy flat-6, and mechanical AWD.
